Development Chemist
Location: Little Rock, AR
About the job: Our client is a growing specialty chemical toll manufacturing facility and looking for a PhD Organic Chemist to join its Development Team. Development works closely with our analytical, process engineering, HSE, manufacturing, and business groups. We are looking for scientists who thrive on multidisciplinary teams to commercialize a wide variety of proprietary and specialty chemicals. The ideal candidate would be a creative chemist with experience in transitioning organic reactions from lab scale to full production.
Job Description:
- The main responsibility would be to design and oversee lab experiments to support the development of targeted proprietary and specialty chemicals.
- The qualified individual will develop lab procedures based on information found in the public domain literature, create and develop new synthesis routes and technologies for targeted proprietary chemicals, and work with the analytical lab group to develop the necessary testing to support product/process development.
- The documentation of work in the form of internal technical reports and patents, as necessary, will be a critical part of the job.
- Handle a wide variety of chemistries and carry projects from conception to manufacture
- Support manufacturing with technical assistance
- Manage a team of chemists to execute lab procedures
- Innovate new products
- Work with a multidisciplinary team to implement process improvements
- Provide gram to kilogram samples of development projects to customers for analysis
- Design single to multistep synthetic routes by utilizing scientific literature
- Communicate with the analytical lab group to develop necessary product testing
- Documentation work in the form of internal reports and external publications as necessary, will be a critical part of the job
Job Requirements:
- PhD degree in Organic Chemistry
- Must have strong understanding and comprehension of synthetic organic chemistry
- Preferably two to five years’ experience with chemical manufacturing development
- Proficient in literature searches and able to adapt literature procedures to lab procedures
- Strong ability to interpret data
- Innovation: creatively implement process improvements, generate novel ideas, solve problems effectively
- Ability to coach and encourage others in successful completion of lab set-up and experiments, interacts well with others, builds and sustains positive relationships with coworkers, communicates lab results effectively to multiple audiences with varying backgrounds

Salary: $100,000 "range" Plus Bonus
